The Greek term mythos can be traced back to Aristotle's Poetics. In his discussion of myths, Aristotle emphasizes the plot and completeness of the story (Hutton, 51). The Oxford English Dictionary defines mythos as "A body of interconnected myths or stories, esp. those belonging to a particular religious or cultural tradition. More generally: an ideology, a set of beliefs (personal or collective)" (EOD).
